SEASON OUTLOOK

2007 record: 7-3

New Albany barely missed the playoffs in Division II, Region 7 last year, finishing with the No. 9 ranking (top eight get in). The Eagles also witnessed the departure of FB/LB Mike Marrow who transferred to Toledo Central Catholic after his father accepted a coaching position at the University of Toledo. However, the cupboard is far from bare for New Albany, which returns 11 starters (5 offense, 6 defense).

Rohrock anchors both lines and has a scholarship offer from Toledo. “He is a nice specimen,” head coach mark Mueller said. “He is the most agile big guy I have ever coached.”

Show was a first-team all-league kicker and also starts on offense and defense. Korth was the leading tackler on the team going into the fourth week, but suffered a broken back. McKeever was the leading tackler on the team and was named second-team all-league.

“Always our goal is to win the league title,” Mueller said. “And if we can do that, then we’ll be in the playoffs. And ours is a very tough region. I’m not fortunate enough to know what everyone has coming back, but Canfield is always tough, Louisville and of course the best teams from Columbus like DeSales, Watterson and Dublin Scioto. We just try and focus on what we have and try and get better each day. We play a lot of kids and we have a good amount of kids back that played football for us last year.”
