PLAYERS TO WATCH
QB Jeff Crowe (Jr.), WR/OLB Cody Herman (Sr.), WR/OLB A.J. Allen (Sr.), WR/MLB Michael Sebastian (Sr.), RB/FS Etahn Schreoder (Jr.)
2007 Record: 2-8
Edgerton hasn’t been to the playoffs since 2003 and it may not make a postseason appearance this season. The Bulldogs however should fair better than their 2-8 finish of a year ago.
Losing just six seniors from a hard-luck team that faced six playoff teams in 2007, Edgerton is ready to turn the corner.
“We believe that we have a lot of experienced underclassmen that we can count on,” second-year head coach Kevin Kline said. “We hope to be able to earn back some respect and be competitive in the league (Green Meadows Conference) and Region 22.”
Headlining Edgerton’s returners is junior quarterback Jeff Crowe. Crowe threw for 1,337 yards and nine touchdowns last season.
One of Crowe’s favorite targets – senior Cody Herman – also returns. Herman caught 35 passes for 358 yards and three touchdowns in 2007.
Defense is where the Bulldogs should have the biggest bite.
Herman (50 tackles) excels as a defenswive back as does returning free safety Ethan Schroeder. A junior, Schroeder had 88 tackles last season.
Senior linebackers A.J. Allen (65 tackles) and Michael Sebastian (58 tackles) also return.
“If we can stay healthy and we continue to work hard there should be nothing but improvement for this team,” Kline said. “We’re excited about the upcoming season and the chance we have to improve upon last year’s record.”
