This is the sixth installment of our “position breakdown” in which we take a look at each position in the state and rank the top five players at each. Today, we take a look at the defensive backs.
There is never a shortage of high school talent for recruiters to pursue in the state of Ohio. The Buckeye State is always one of the country's strongest state's when it comes to college football prospects.
So now that the spring recruiting period is over we revisit a series we ran at the beginning of March breaking down the Ohio class of 2009 by position. We look at our current Top 5 prospects at each position, give the position an overall grade and more.
Today we wrap-up our series with a look at the defensive backs.
1. Justin Turner – Massillon Washington
2. C.J. Barnett – Clayton Northmont
3. Jamie Wood – Pickerington Central
4. D.J. Hunter – Middletown
5. Isaiah Bell – Liberty
Overall Grade For The Position: “A-” Barnett and Wood have committed to Ohio State. Turner and Bell have committed to Michigan. Hunter has plenty of offers and the first four are among the top defensive back prospects in the Big Ten region.
Most Likely To Break Into The Top 5: Denicos Allen from Hamilton could play strong safety or linebacker in college. Either way he has the potential to be a good one at the next level.
Most Likely To Star In The NFL Someday: Barnett. Outstanding cover cornerbacks are hard to find and Barnett is a very good one.
