Oak Harbor’s Magrum Wins Prestigous Dave Schultz Award

Oak Harbor’s Cody Magrum won the Dave Schultz Award
Three-time Ohio high school wrestling state champion and Oak Harbor
senior C.J. Magrum has been awarded the Dave Schultz High School
Excellence Award for the State of Ohio. This is one of the most
prestigious wrestling awards nationwide and is given in honor of Oympic
gold medalist Dave Schultz. One winner per state is named.


Three-time Ohio high school wrestling state champion and Oak Harbor senior C.J. Magrum has been awarded the Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award for the State of Ohio. This is one of the most prestigious wrestling awards nationwide and is given in honor of Oympic gold medalist Dave Schultz.

An Ohio State recruit, Magrum recently won the Division II 189-pound title at the state wrestling meet. He was a also a two-time state champion at 171. Magrum is also a National Honor Society member and carries a 4.0 GPA.

The award is presented by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum, which selects one winner per state.

The winners of the Schultz Award will have the opportunity to attend an all-expense paid trip to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Spring, Colorado for a Leadership Camp. USA Wrestling, the sports governing body, will host the camp at the Olympic Training Center. The camp agenda will include instructional session with the freestyle and Greco roman national coaches and wrestlers and will feature presentations on sport psychology, strength and conditioning, nutrition, leadership development and public speaking.

Magrum's name will now appear on the wall in the Dave Schultz High School Excellence display at the National Wrestling Hall of Fame located in Stillwater, Oklahoma
