Below is what Bucknuts Media Network recruiting specialists, Bill Kurelic and Duane Long have to say about Longo:

Long on Longo: “I would put a star or something beside Longo’s name if I could – something to note that this is a player to watch during the athlete season.

If you want to talk about great frames, Longo is one of the first names out of my mouth when the subject comes up. He has a long body and long limbs. He will weigh 300 pounds even if he was not trying to weigh 300 pounds. He has really good feet and plays nasty.

The athlete season is so crucial to him. Longo showed toughness playing with his hand in a cast for a number of games this year.

He also plays defensive end but he will outgrow that position but a player this athletic might get a look at defensive tackle. His father was an Ohio State linebacker.

He has early offers on the table from Cincinnati, Miami (Ohio) and Bowling Green. That list could get a lot longer if he does what I think he is can when the combines and camps start.

Kurelic on Longo: ” Bellbrook High School junior offensive lineman Sam Longo is not as well known as some of the other top Ohio class of 2009 line prospects, but Longo is a good one and the Ohio State coaching staff is certainly aware of him.

The 6-foot-5 and 260-pound Longo played on special teams during his freshman year before becoming a starter the last two games of the season.  He was a starter at guard his sophomore year and offensive left tackle his junior season.

Longo, who has not allowed a sack the past two seasons, runs the 40-yard dash in 4.8 seconds, bench presses 365 pounds and can squat over 600.  With those type of numbers it isn't surprising that Longo is drawing plenty of interest from recruiters.

“I'm getting mail from all over,” Longo said.  “Ohio State and most of the Big Ten, Stanford, Virginia, Rutgers, Connecticut, I get mail from a little bit of everyone.”

During the football season Longo was very active in regards to the recruiting process.

“I took a ton of unofficial visits, all with my dad,” he said.  “I went to Rutgers, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Western Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Purdue, Indiana and Michigan State.  We went to games for nine straight weeks.”

Longo and his father saw the Buckeyes when Michigan State was in town and he came away very impressed.

“It was definitely the best visit I had by far,” Longo said.  “The atmosphere was amazing.  I talked to (recruiting coordinator) John Peterson.  He was at my school last year.  He invited me to their camp.”

As far as summer football camps go, Longo will be in Columbus among other places.

“I haven't planned it out, but I'll definitely go to Ohio State's senior camp,” he said.  “I'll probably go to Rutgers and Notre Dame.”

When asked if he has a favorite school, Longo said, “Ohio State is my favorite.”
