Hoop FanFest 2008 will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 8 and Saturday, March 15 in the Auxiliary Gym of The Schottenstein Center on The Ohio State University campus. Admission is free.
Hoop FanFest 2008 will feature free-throw, three-point and spot shooting contests; an interactive area that will feature Pop-a-Shot, foosball, air hockey, pinball and other games; vendor booths; and food and drink. After each boys and girls state championship game, fans will flock to the Hoop FanFest for “Championship Zone” celebrations in which coaches, players and school administrators will address fans during a unique community celebration. Fans will have the opportunity to greet players, get autographs and have photos taken with state championship trophies.
“High school basketball fans attending the girls and boys state basketball finals now have an area to enjoy a hands-on experience before, during and after the state championship games,” said Dave Cecutti, the former Capital coach and Ohio State assistant who is producing Hoop FanFest 2008 with former Ohio State basketball player and current radio analyst Ron Stokes. “We look forward to providing the 2008 girls and boys state champions a platform to celebrate their championships in style.”
Following state championship games on March 8 and March 15, eight lucky contestants will take $10,000 half-court shots in the Hoop FanFest area. Contestants will be selected at random from those who register in advance. Boys and girls in grades 4-8 can take part in a “Hoop Clinic for Kids” from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on both March 8 and March 15. The clinics are open to the first 250 registrants.
Hoop Fan Fest 2008 will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 p.m. on Saturday, March 8 and Saturday, March 15 in conjunction with championship games of the girls and boys state basketball tournaments, respectively. For more information, visit www.HoopFanFest.com or call 866-571-HOOP.
