Newark Licking Valley linebacker and running back Storm Klein, one of the top five junior prospects in the Buckeye State, is one of six class of 2009 commitments Jim Tressel has already landed.
The 6-foot-3 and 220-pound Klein has been the man at Licking Valley from day-one of his freshman season. That first season Klein rushed for 1200 yards and scored 14 times.
Klein rushed for over 1800 yards and 28 touchdowns his sophomore season as he led his team to a 9-2 record and was named district player-of-the-year. Klein also played some linebacker in his second varsity season.
As a junior Klein played both running back and middle linebacker as Licking Valley finished with a 13-2 record. Klein and his teammates made it to the Division III state championship game. Despite a loss to Sunbury Big Walnut in that game, Klein was outstanding. He led the Panthers in tackles and rushed for 130 yards on 19 carries.
For the season Klein led the Panthers in tackles with well over 100. He rushed for over 800 yards, averaged just over eight yards per carry and scored 20 times.
Klein committed to Ohio State before the end of his junior football season. He will likely play linebacker for the Buckeyes though offense is not out of the question.
