Ashland Crestview has pieces in place for strong season

The Cougars have capturted two sectional titles in the last three
years, including last season when the squad finished 18-5. Head coach
Tracy Richards (42-25 in three years) is expecting another solid run. Crestview returns two of the Firelands Conference’s best players in regining player of the year Kate Stimpert and Emma McCarron.


The Cougars have capturted two sectional titles in the last three years, including last season when the squad finished 18-5. Head coach Tracy Richards (42-25 in three years) is expecting another solid run.

Crestview returns two of the Firelands Conference’s best players in regining player of the year Kate Stimpert and Emma McCarron.

Stimpert (5-8, G/F) was second team All-Northwest District last season and honorable mention All-Ohio after averaging 18 points, 13 renbounds, 4 steals and 3 assists.

Stimpert could also set the school’s career rebounding record by season’s end.

McCarron, a 5-8 junior forward, was honorable mention all-district after averaging 13 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists.

Look for junior forward Alicia Metzger to contribute heavily as well. Metzger (5-8) averaged 8 poiints and 7 rebounds last season.

“We expect to contend for Firelands Conference title,” Richards said. “We have a great trio returning and if our young post players continue their improvement a long tourney run could be in the cards.”
