Despite losing 22 seniors, Neanen confident Eaton will successfully rebuild

Eaton Eagles
Eaton lost 22 seniors, including 18 starters, from last year’s playoff team. The biggest loss is QB Jeremy Fudge. The team will also have to replace wideout Brandon Robinson and kicker Mike Bolinger, who is at Miami (Oh.). Coach Ron Neanen said his team will be extremely inexperienced and has a bunch of holes to fill.

* Players To Watch
– WR/KR Jordan Decker (6-0, 185, Sr.), LB Michael Coning (6-0, 195, Sr.), OL/DL David Morgan (6-2, 230, Sr.), RB Josh Slemker (6-1, 185, Jr.)

* Outlook – As Neanen pointed out, the Eagles will have a bunch of new faces playing key roles this season. What will make things even tougher for Eaton is the fact it will be playing one of its toughest schedules in Neanen’s tenure at the school. Trenton Edgewood and Greenon have been added to the schedule so it’s safe to say that the youthful Eagles will have to grow up in a hurry.

“We will be rebuilding somewhat this season,” Neanen suggested. “We lost a lot on offense, our entire defensive line and our secondary.

“We will basically be rebuilding our defense completely. On offense, we have two offensive linemen and a wide receiver back,” Neanen continued. “That’s a lot to replace. We’ll be extremely inexperienced as far as Friday night experience. We do have a bunch of holes to fill, but out JV team was undefeated and I feel they can fill the holes. Everything will depend on how they get used to Friday night experience.

“I think the first part of the year is really crucial for us. We’ve added Edgewood and Greenon. We have to come out of the blocks ready to play if we are to have a chance at making a run at the playoffs,” he added.
