This season, the Lions welcome back one of the state’s best running backs in Darius Reeves (5-11, 185, Sr.). He rushed for 1,622 yards and 16 touchdowns last season and is ranked as the No. 38 senior prospect in the state by Ohio High magazine. Reeves also starts at cornerback where he had 50 tackles and two interceptions last year. Heading into his final prep season, he holds two scholarship offers – Toledo and Kent State – with many other programs keeping a close eye on him.
Gahanna has a lot of talent on the roster, but the Lions have a big hole to fill at quarterback and several spots to fill on the offensive and defensive lines.
The other key returning starters include: OT Seamus Garvey (6-6, 265, Sr.), LB Kevin Guthrie (6-0, 230, Sr.), WR Elliott Williams (6-0, 170, Sr.) and DB Aaron Breiffeller (6-0, 180, Sr.).
“We want to compete for our conference championship and make the playoffs again,” head coach Mike Lanza said. “Getting into the playoffs five out of seven years would be nice for our program.”
The Ohio Capital Conference is always strong, but Gahanna does not appear to have a very challenging out-of-conference slate.
