Licking Valley has been a regular in the playoffs during the 2000s. The school has been in the postseason 12 times and this year should mark its 13th visit to Week 11.
“We always go with high expectations. The potential is there, but it is up to us to measure up to that and maximize our potential,” Baughman related. “Any coach hopes to stay away from injuries and you’re always concerned about depth. I think a concern is that as the season goes on we’ll have to find more depth. Storm hasn’t played defense up to this point, but we’re moving him over to the defensive side of the ball. He’s going to need more spells on offense and I think that Bailey is very capable.”
A big key for the Panthers will be the experience that is back in the fold.
“We return six starters on both sides of the ball. Early on, we’re hoping to have some kids step up because we’ll have guys playing both ways.
“We like to think our offensive line is one area of strength. We have three seniors up there that have started two years each,” he resumed. “We’ll also have a strong running game. We did lose our kicker and the kicking game will need to be shored up. Our defense is also a bit of a concern. We’ll have to get back to the level of defense we played in 2005.”
