2006 Record: 12-2
After finishing as a state semifinalist last year in Division V, Amanda-Clearcreek makes the move to Division IV.
“We were one step away from making it to the big game again and we’re disappointed we didn’t make it. But we are pleased at the effort these young men gave us. To go 12-2 exceeded the expectations we had for this group,” said head coach Ron Hinton. “It didn’t surprise us but we just didn’t know if we had enough to get there. Our kids battled hard, battled tough and won several close games throughout the year. You’ll hit lulls in the season but when it came down to having to make plays those kids made plays.”
Dalton, a 1,000-yard passer and rusher, returns under center for the Aces and Ellinger (18 catches, two TDs), Griebel (18 catches, 108 yards, two TDs) and Mathes (42 catches, 231 yards, four TDs) will all lead the A-C offense.
“I think we’re solid but this is the first time in my 27 years that we will struggle putting guys up front. Usually, we have people up front but no skill people – now we have skill players and no players up front,” Hinton explained.
“We have some big holes to fill and we have a small senior class. Probably what we won’t have with this year’s group is depth. We are really going to try and develop depth. We have a lot of players that didn’t necessarily start but played a lot for us.”
