Youngstown Mooney LB Taylor Hill, who is rated as the No. 21 prospect amongst Ohio's top 100 senior prospects, has narrowed his college decision down to three schools. In this special from James Hale of OUInsider.com, Hill discusses his favorite schools.
JH: I know you guys don’t have spring practice, but you are always working on football drills. How are those drills going for you?
TH: “We are doing a lot of conditioning and stuff and we are doing real well right now. It is a lot of running and sprint work.”
JH: Are you scrimmaging at all or is it just conditioning?
TH: “We are just doing a lot of running and getting back in shape. We have not really started to go over plays or anything, but I think we will start doing that later this week. We will probably have some pass scrimmages next week. It will be in shorts and t-shirts. We aren't going to be putting the pads back on until August.”
JH: Have you had much of a chance to go to any combines or visit schools unofficially this summer?
TH: “No, I haven’t been anywhere yet.”
JH: How much time will you actually get off from football this summer?
TH: “From the day we got out of school, we had two weeks off from football and then it was right back into conditioning. We are conditioning now Monday through Thursday from 6 in the morning until 8. We will do this all the way up until August 2nd when we begin doubles. So it is pretty much football from here on out.”
JH: You really wouldn’t want it any other way would you?
TH: “No, that is pretty much how I like it.”
JH: How big are you right now?
TH: “I have put on a little bit more weight, and I want to keep my speed. I weigh 205. I haven’t been timed lately, but I am just as fast as I was before.”
JH: What is going on in recruiting with your right now? Do you have a top five or a favorite right now?
TH: “Right now I like Oklahoma, LSU and West Virginia.”
JH: So you are down to three schools?
JH: So what are your thoughts on Oklahoma?
TH: “Oklahoma is No. 1 on my list. I love everything about them. I like how they play and their coaching staff. I just love everything about Oklahoma.”
JH: Have you visited any of those three schools yet?
TH: “I am going to try to get down to Oklahoma at this end of this month, and maybe to LSU. I don’t know when I can get to West Virginia. I may just have to wait for an official.”
JH: What are your thoughts on LSU and West Virginia?
TH:”I am just going by reputation right now. They both have good programs, but I don’t know too much about them.”
JH: What are going to be some of the key points that you are going to be evaluating and looking for when trying to make a decision?
TH: “I am going to be looking for the place where I fit in the best. I would like to find a school where I can play a little bit early. I am not necessarily talking about my first year, but I don’t want to wait until my third or fourth year to play. I want to be able to find some playing time early in my career and, of course, I want to go somewhere that has a good academic program.”
JH: Where are they going to play you this year at Cardinal Mooney?
TH: “I am going to be playing defensive end.”
JH: Isn’t OU recruiting you as an outside linebacker?
TH: “Yeah, but the way we play defensive end here it is just like playing outside linebacker. I am dropping back into coverage all the time and playing like a linebacker.”
